Description

Here is a very cool field recording of the San Francisco Bay Area foghorns by Bill Fontana done in conjunction with KQED FM radio (a public station in SF).  Liner notes say "In 1982 I created my first set of radio sound sculptures with the support of KQED and NPR's The Sunday Show".  Side A is what played at the physical installation on the East Wall of Pier 2, Fort Mason center in SF during the New Music America '81 Festival.   Side B is what was broadcast on the radio.  The technology of recording eight different foghorns miles apart, transmitting via Bell System phone lines, mixed in real time and played and recorded is pretty amazing.  Liner notes give the full detail on which foghorns are represented by the red dots shown on the album cover. 
Would make for some interesting background for DJs and is quite relaxing.  Conservatively play-graded VG+.   Ships in hard LP shipper.
