Description

Billie Holiday "Strange Fruit / Fine And Mellow" 1939

RARE Commodore Records, "Classics in Swing," 526

Billie's 1939 Commodore release of Lewis Allan's "Strange Fruit," with "her Orchestra." Recorded in April, 1939, this is the ORIGINAL Commodre release of this single by Ms. Holiday, and, according to Rust, "a most desirable record" on Commodore label. "Published by commodore Music Shop" written on center label. 24403-B and 24405-A, respectively, on both sides of dead wax. Vinyl is in excellent condition, especially considering its age; expect to see a few very light surface scuffs.

Side One: 1. "Strange Fruit" (Lewis Allan)
Side Two: 1. "Fine And Mellow" (Billie Holiday)
