Description

$1 starting bid with NO RESERVE! VERY RARE HOT STAMPER RL MASTERDISK VERSION!
Extremely rare and sought after "hot stamper" version of The Stranger. Of the 60 or so copies I've gone through this year, this is the first version I've found with the rare master by Bob Ludwig. The VAST majority of these are mastered by TJ at Sterling, (Bob's old bosses) and the rest with no imprint, (mastered by Columbia in-house)… but a VERY FEW of these were mastered by Bob at his new imprint Masterdisk, showing a hotter program, cleaner sound, audiophile clarity and very small dead wax, famous as he is for getting the most out of these hallowed grooves, with a deep groove cut and wider program, resulting in less dead wax.
These are very hard to find, about as rare as a white label promo or half speed mastered versions, but for my taste, they are the best of them all! I'm not sure exactly WHY they are as rare as they are, but like the Led Zep II issues, they are definitely among first pressings and not among the reissues... also, like the LZII, they often tend to be BIFFED from play and use... a simple case of "if it sounds great, play the heck out of it!"...  Likewise it took me forever to find a  NM/NM-  clean copy like this. Also EX cover with almost no trace of ring wear and pretty clean seams with only some mild shelf wear, and crisp inner sleeve. A truly rare and soon to be legendary copy, like the classic LED ZEP II that he mastered, taking fidelity into the next decade, even though some weren't ready yet!
Enjoy this preferred copy of this classic LP and understand what all the fuss is about regarding "hot stamper" pressings. These are far and away the best of the best in the analog world. Not all pressings were created equal. Get the best you can get before you make the argument that vinyl rules all formats… Enjoy the tunes! Thanks for keeping this music alive and people like me in business! If no one noticed the difference, what a sad world this would be… Bob Ludwig just wrote me last week and settled a debate I was having with some folks who thought they knew better (regarding versions of Led Zep II)… Bob is the coolest guy ever! If interested I will show you the letter I got. It's very interesting info!
