My mother bought this album when I was a kid in the 50's or 60's because Tipton is a family name and she was so proud of it. We didn't play the record much but it does show signs of use. For me, the best part of the album was the voluptuous bombshell on the cover. But I digress.
Years later when Billy Tipton died my mother was shocked to learn he was a she. She wrote on the album back, "Feb 1, 2989 - Billy Tipton was mentioned on Paul Harvey's radio program that he had died - and the funeral director discovered 'he was a she'! Horrors - I'm going to change my name."
We now know that Billy tipton's story was a lot more complex than simple cross-dressing.
The album has not been listened to for quality. The cover has been been written on and taped to repair the edges.
This album is an excellent collectable. It symbolizes the human spirit's ability to overcome adversity in life and achieve dignity.
