Description

Artist :  BLACK SABBATH

LP Title :  Black Sabbath

Label :  Vertigo / VO 6 / 1970

Matrix Numbers :  VO 6 1Y*1 420 12 1 2 / VO 6 2Y*1 420 12 4

Notes :  Very early UK 1st Pressing with full swirl label on Side A and large swirl on Side B label where beneath the Vertigo logo it reads 'a Philips Record Product' which I believe was printed only on the very earliest of pressings, original Vertigo swirl inner sleeve, the outer gatefold sleeve has a very lightly textured surface, band credits inside include a mis-spelt 'Ossie' Osborne (which is missing its 'u')

Condition :  The vinyl is lovely and glossy and aside from a little dust from storage it is very clean: Side A is NM- with a couple of barely noticeable hairline marks visible, Side B also has a couple of very faint hairline marks and two heavier ones - I am playing the record now as I write and the heavier marks do not appear to have had much of an effect on the sound of this heavy chunky vinyl, the worst that I can hear is a tiny bit of static every now (which is probably from specks of dust) and a handful of very tiny clicks, but definitely no pops or jumps - it really does sound fantastic!  Apart from what I have mentioned there is no other marking or scuffing to the vinyl at all - I would think it has only ever been played a few times.

The labels are bright, clean and unworn with a couple of faint spindle marks visible when held up to the light.

The gatefold sleeve shows some minor edge wear and has a little rubbing on the corners.  The spine is nice and square with a little surface wear and a faint line down its centre.  There is very minimal wear visible down the opening edge, and just one very light crease line.  Inside the gatefold are a couple of tiny little blemishes and marks and a couple of light crease lines.  The inner sleeve has some very minor creasing to its corners.

We have been as honest as possible at describing this, but all-in-all we do think that it's a really nice example, not to mention a very early 1st pressing, of this highly sought after album.

Unless otherwise noted above, vinyl grading is visual only - please ask if you require any further information or extra photographs.
