Description

An original 1st UK issue from early autumn 1970. Matrix 1/1. Please note the labels are 1st issue with LARGE VERTIGO SWIRL above the spindle hole [Vertigo mentioned below spindle hole]. And also note this is NOT the very earliest pressing from spring 1970 - those copies still mentioned 'Philips Product'. The vinyl comes housed in an original gatefold cover. There's also the original Vertigo inner too. So, 100% genuine 100% complete.
Vinyl (Ex-/Vg+) In lovely condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection I can only make out a few lightest marks per side and one semi feelable mark [which sounds briefly]. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an [at least] NEAREXCELLENT level of playback just slight deviation in a couple of spots per side. Intros and inbetweens are very nice and quiet and the audio comes across with excellent clarity. Mostly a pretty clean feed and you are gonna get some pretty ferocious audio of a copy like this. It's great that it's managed to survive in this sort of condition. The uptempo numbers are executed with power and authority and little sign of background. But even into the lowerkey moments I'm pleased to report an impressive delivery. Not perfectly clean, but little to worry about even into those infrequent lowkey moments. The only issues I could pick out were a few crackles in the very short track early side 2 and in Geezer's bass solo on side 1. A bit later the mark mentioned above (side 2) causes a couple of ticks and 3-4 clicks. But given the ferocity of the Sabbath axemanship...it doesn't get much of a look in. Overall this is a stellar copy for 80% of the time. For the remaining 20% it is only marginally off the pace and still more than acceptable. The whole package is pretty enticing.
Cover (Vg+) In lovely condition for the vintage. Flat surfaces with only some edge wear in the odd spot. Interior looks great with some light wear in top sector - nothing bad. Spine is 80% intact - pretty good in fact. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inner [Vg+] No splits. Bag present. Date autumn 1970. Some ageing.
