Description
Black Sabbath – Heaven and Hell Album number 9 for Black Sabbath, released 25th April 1980 and the first to feature new vocalist Ronnie James Dio (who replaced Ozzy in 1979). Featuring single releases "Neon Knights" and "Die Young" the album was regarded as a phoenix moment by Dio. Producer Martin Birch came onboard for the album at Dio’s recommendation. It was also drummer Bill Ward’s last album for Black Sabbath who suffered 3rd degree burns during the studio recording and a prank that went badly wrong! The album became Black Sabbath’s highest charting album reaching No.9 in the UK and 28 in the US. Dio’s addition to the band brought a younger audience and with the transition came critical acclaim with what SOUNDS called a “new wave in British Heavy Metal” and seen by many as a revival of rock in the early 80’s. This is a first pressing with cover and vinyl reference: 9102 752, with a matrix variant 6 runout 9102752 A//2?ETH 1 1 4 with a label credit for Carlin Music Corp which indicates this is a genuine early first pressing. Disc in very good condition and plays brilliantly. Cover is showing its 80’s age with some edge damage as you would expect but in general good condition. Check photos for further reference.
