Description

An original 1st on the WWA label for Sabbath and MOR. Remember this title was first issued two years earlier on VERTIGO. The vinyl still holds the original Vertigo catalogue info in the deadwax - these are the first copies issued as Sabbath signed to WWA - albeit briefly! The vinyl comes housed in an original non-embossed cover with that 'Sweet Life' print error on the rear [and pinched spine]. To be honest - I think this Sweet Life is quite a common error. However, there is one error on this LP which is a lot harder to find. On the Side 2 label the printers have omitted the WWA silver logo. I'm presuming the silver logo was added after the white ink. Anyways - they forgot to add it on this copy...but as with many errors it was still released to the public. I haven't seen this one before and would imagine it is much harder to find than the relatively common 'Sweet Life' error on the cover. Also included is the original inner sleeve. So, 100% genuine and 100% complete. Whilst the typos are all good fun - for me it's really more about getting closer to those original masters and acquiring a good clean playing copy. 
Vinyl (Ex/Vg+) In lovely condition and has only seen relatively light use. Under close inspection I could only make out a couple of light marks per ide - nothing remotely troublesome. A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals a mostly EXCELLENT level of playback with a couple of deviations. Make no mistake about it - you can hear this copy is not so far from those original masters. Don't get me wrong...I would very much love a perfect playing 1st Vertigo copy with poster...but how much $$$ are we talking about? For a super sounding and looking copy you could do a lot worse than consider this one...Crank it up and you can really hear the power of this fantastic band. Sabbath hardly put a foot wrong in their first five albums. And MOR is no slouch - hear it how it was meant to be heard. This pressing has bags or power and authority - enough to do the title full justice. The only tracks where the background is noticeable against the audio is in the very quiet 'Orchid' & 'Solitude'. There's a couple of clicks midway through 'Solitude' too. But to be fair these tracks are very hard to find playing totally clean on any copy. By and large a fantastic early copy. Just be sure you can handle the bit of background in those two quiet tracks.
Cover (Ex) The vinyl looks very smart and the cover continues this theme. I love the look of MOR and on a very smart flat and clean cover it really does look like something special. Shiny flat front cover without creasing - remember there's no embossing at this point in time. Back and front are equally impressive - just one minuscule laminate crease on the front. Edge wear is pretty much totally absent and the openings are still sharp. The spine is awesome..100% perfect with those early pinched ends in super condition. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity. FINAL UPGRADE territory for sure.
Inner (Ex) 100% original and in excellent order with little ageing at all.
