Paranoid is Black Sabbath's (Ozzy Osbourne, Bill Ward, Tony Iommi, Geezer Butler) second long player, released in North America on January 7th, 1971. The songs on this record are considered by many to be some of the most influential heavy metal songs ever cut to vinyl, and has been repackaged and re-released countless times over the years.
But this particular album for auction is special - it is a white label promotional copy, aka a WLP, and as such it is pressed prior to the commercial copies and has a hotter, more detailed sound presentation than that which the normal consumer could pick up from their local record shop. And that is no small feat, given the hard-hitting power of the commercial release itself! I grade the cover as VG, and the disk as VG+. The cover exhibits ring-wear and the disk has some scuff marks and a few surface marks that I cannot hear when played on my system. A solid, uncommon collectible of a landmark recording in the history of 20th century music.
