WABASH RAG (master 201542) and YOU GONNA QUIT ME BLUES (20110), by Blind Blake. Paramount Electrically Recorded 12597, black label. Wabash Rag is great; You Gonna Quit Me Blues comes across a bit more like White Country music than it does blues.

Both sides of this record were graded aurally with an early 1950s 78rpm record player with a 78rpm sapphire needle in good condition.

The label for WABASH... (see scan at bottom of this page) has some wear (from the turntable post) around the center hole which means the original owner of this record liked the "b" side better. Go figure. The label for YOU GONNA QUIT is in somewhat better condition:

Both sides have moderate light surface scratches - nothing too deep or too egregious. Neither side is totally lacking in original gloss. Paramounts traditionally have a higher decibel value of surface noise than Columbia or Okeh records of the same vintage. The surface hiss is higher at the beginning of each record but - in my opinion - is never louder than the music and both of these play fairly strongly with WABASH... playing a little bit better.

There are no chips, no warping, no digs that effect play to any degree, no cracks - hairline or otherwise.

Using the grading I found some years ago on a website called SpinConnection (said system coming across as standard), this is a VG+ record but with the label itself coming across as E-   

This is really not bad at all for a Paramount "country blues" 78.

THE RECORD WILL COME IN AN OLDER 78rpm SLEEVE BUT NOT - ALAS - AN ORIGINAL PARAMOUNT SLEEVE.
