Description
Bo Diddley. First LP on Chess Records. Self Titled. 1958. Black Chess Label with Silver Print. Deep Groove. DG. Record plays nicely. There is some surface noise, and there are some clicks during play, typical of original Chess LPs from the 1950's. There are a few manufacturing flaws, also typical of original 50's pressings. See close up pictures. The spindle hole is a bit tight, so you have to wiggle the record a bit when putting it on and taking it off the spindle. There are some light scuffs on the record, but it still has good sheen, and plenty of life left in it. These Chess originals are usually beat up, but not this one. Certainly a very decent example.
The jacket is in wonderful condition. There is a crease on the front, to the left of the letters "DD" (see pic), and a little flaking on the bottom seam. The back jacket is very clean.
Cleaned on my Clearaudio Matrix record cleaning machine and placed it in a premium Japanese inner sleeve. Jacket is stored in a premium Japanese re-sealable sleeve. All LPs listed are from my personal collection.
Goldmine book value of this 1958 mono record is $200 in NM condition. If you follow this record's price history, you know it has sold for much more than book value.
