Description

Here it is - the Moby Dick of Dylan rarities, the notorious "Ten of Swords" 10 LP box set.  Contains 134 rare tracks from Dylan's formative 1961-1966 period on a total of 10 vinyl LP's; in all, more than eight hours of material.  Even with Columbia's recent "Bootleg Series" of releases many of these tracks can still only be found here.  An absolute must for Dylanologists!

The set is organized thematically and (mostly) chronologically, with each side focused on a particular set of recordings in Dylan's oeuvre.  These include:  "The Minnesota Hotel Tapes", "The Leeds Music Demos", "The Witmark Demos", "The Gaslight Tape", "Sessions With the Band", as well as sides of outakes from each of Dylan's officially released albums.  It also comes with an informative and irreverantly written booklet commenting on each of the recordings.  All in all, a comprehensive and well thought out job of documenting the crucial early career stages of an American music legend.

The set is in fantastic condition, with each of the LP's looking pristine and virtually unplayed.  Note that since this was not an "officially" released recording, some surface noise may be inherent in either the source material or pressings; however, this set has a great reputation for being of generally high quality for its type.  The box itself is also in great shape with just a 1 1/2" scratch on the front, and a couple of smaller scratches on the back.
