They’re sold for their scarcity and VISUAL grading. They’ve been in storage for a decade, and they WILL play with surface noise that can be addressed with D4 or a VPI cleaning.  I can’t test-play at the minute.

Bob Dylan 1967 LP John Wesley Harding ORANGE VINYL Taiwanese First Pressing, VG!

NOTE:  (Many collectors believe mistakenly that these Taiwanese pressings are counterfeit, but they aren’t.  They were legitimately pressed and issued, and were most popular with U.S. military servicemen in the 1960’s.  The confusion exists, because at that time, Taiwan didn’t recognize international copyright laws, which put these records into question.  But concerning sound quality and publicly owned pressing plants, these LP’s were definitely pressed by industry-standard factories.  They just used sub-standard vinyl, unfortunately.)

Rare Taiwanese first pressing on orange vinyl.  This copy uses the original first pressing Columbia plates, rather than the reissued ones with the Taiwanese matrices.  Both plates are from the “1” series, meaning first-run.  Not a first-day issue, but definitely within the first pressing!

Vinyl--- VG/VG.  Side 1 has a burn pattern along the first track, which does sound on each rotation throughout.  Both sides have some light scratches that can’t be felt with the fingertip.  Otherwise, the album plays with light to moderate surface noise, which may be addressed with a good VPI cleaning, or a few D4 applications and plays.

Plates--- Columbia’s matrices are present on both sides.  XSM-135311-1A/XSM135312-1D.  The 1A and 1D are definitely from the first run.  Both dead waxes also have the Taiwanese catalogue number, in addition.

Interestingly, the 1D plate for Side 2 is the last one that featured Bob popping his “p’s” on “I Pity the Poor Immigrant.”  Starting with the 1E plate, that was tamped down in the mastering.

Cover--- VG.  This is the paper cover, which is encased in plastic.  Has light to moderate ringwear and dirtwear.  Back cover has some yellowing from these 58 years, but not too badly.  Bottom seam has a split that’s just over one inch long.

Labels--- VG+/EX.  Side 1 label has some light smudgings.  Side 2 looks great.  Just a few small spindle marks.

**Side 1 label does contain the error on track two, listed as “As I Went Out One Moning.”  As opposed to “Morning.” **

Inner Sleeve--- None.  The plastic lining of these covers serve as the LP’s protection.

A generic inner sleeve will be provided, so as not to damage your original inner sleeve en route.

(Please note:  Regarding play-testing, my Technics turntable has somehow seized.  The tone arm is stuck in the up position, and I can’t get it to fully return to its cradle.  Is there anyone out there, who can tell me if this is an easy fix?  Thanks!)
