An album that has sort of been ignored through the years, partially because Dylan only has a couple original songs on the album. But, to fully understand the man and what he would later become artistically, you must experience this amazing, gritty piece of Americana.

This album is not just folk, contrary to popular belief, neither was Bob...not really....this album is many things...blues, folk, gospel...sung and played by a real bluesman. It is a great collection of songs that are expressed from the soul.

The performances are quite spectacular for such a young man to be singing them. "In My Time of Dying", "You're No Good", "Man of Constant Sorrow", "Gospel Plow" and "House of the Rising Sun" are among the classics. "Song to Woody", written by Bob is beautiful. A MUST HAVE!

BRINGING IT ALL BACK HOME -

This Album by Bob Dylan ranked 48th in NME’s list of The Greatest Albums of All-Time. Accompanying Dylan on this recording are John Hammond, John Sebastian, Bobby Gregg, Kenneth Rankin. Recorded at Columbia Records Studios, New York, New York in January of 1965.

Howls of rage greeted Dylan as he presented the world with folk/rock - he was soundly booed at both the Newport Folk Festival and Royal Albert Hall. Yet, here is one of those moments of cross-influence that changed the course of popular music.

BRINGING IT ALL BACK HOME gave Bob Dylan an audience on a plate. It was a massive breakthrough. An Album of two different sides -- Acoustic (his past) and Electric (his future), the music covered a thousand fold -- has among it Maggie’s Farm - Subterranean Homesick Blues - Mister Tambourine Man - Love Minus Zero - and the cosmopolitan political speak of It’s All Right Mama. You can debate -- is it folk or is it rock forever? It is irrelevant. It is merely Dylan at one of its many peaks.

BLOOD ON THE TRACKS -

Inevitably, this Dylan 1975 classic has positioned itself as what critics use as a barometer to praise any new Bob Dylan Album. They always label it the best since BLOOD ON THE TRACKS and with good reason. Inspired by a crumbled marriage and recorded after a tour with The Band had apparently re-ignited Dylan’s creativity and is why this LP is among Dylan’s best masterpieces.

This Album’s epic songs are well-known but its real high points are in the shorter numbers - YOU’RE A BIG GIRL NOW and flawless Blues, MEET ME IN THE MORNING, and the sweetly devastating BUCKETS OF RAIN. These are songs of images and distorted facts each expressed through tangled points of view and all of them blue.

Other classics included are TANGLED UP AND BLUE - SIMPLE TWIST OF FATE - IDIOT WIND - YOU’RE GONNA MAKE ME LONESOME WHEN YOU GO - LILY, ROSEMARY AND THE JACK OF HEARTS - IF YOU SEE HER SAY HELLO and SHELTERED FROM THE STORM. A must for any true Bob Dylan fan!!!

ANOTHER SIDE OF BOB DYLAN -

This set captures a still-growing Dylan on the edge, just before he makes the jump to rock n roll, continuing to expand the notion of folk music with openhearted, unprecedented compositions and performances like “All I Really Want To Do” - “Chimes of Freedom” - “My Back Pages” - “It Ain’t Me Babe.” If Dylan’s previous album, THE TIMES THEY ARE A-CHANGIN’ was a bit too literal and focused on current events, ANOTHER SIDE indulges Dylan’s more mythic and expansive side making room for the humor that would explode when Dylan formed a band. It’s just Dylan, guitar, and harmonica here but ANOTHER SIDE is a rock and roll album without that band. Dylan’s outstanding second album is a tremendous jump from its predecessor. Whereas the debut established him as a peerless interpreter of folk and country-blues classics, and a singer like none before, this follow up features some of the most pungent original songs of the 60s BLOWIN’ IN THE WIND - MASTERS OF WAR - A HARD RAIN’S A-GONNA FALL - DON’T THINK TWICE - IT’S ALL RIGHT - I SHALL BE FREE. If this sounds like the lineup for a greatest hits collection, you’ve got the idea. Nat Hentoff’s liner notes are charmingly dated, but Dylan’s idiosyncratic singing, unexpected lyrics, and inimitable guitar and harmonica playing are as immediate and relevant as whatever you hear on the radio today
