Original Columbia Records promotional release for radio station DJs and the media of Bob Dylan’s 6th studio album “Highway 61 Revisited” released on August 30, 1965. Limited edition featuring an incredibly rare original promotional sketch style portrait of Bob Dylan executed on the textured paper and measuring 9” x 12”. The portrait was included only with the earliest 1st pressing copies, commercial and promotional, and only one day after the album was released Stan Kavan, the vice-president of merchandising and advertising for Columbia Records, wrote to the company's distributors enclosing the portrait and advising that it would be packed "under the shrink wrap on the liner side" of "all copies of your initial shipment as well as reorders for the next few weeks or as long as the supply lasts". Promotional 1st print cover with a large “Columbia Records Radio Station Service – Not For Resale” timing strip banner. The cover remains in the original factory shrink wrap which still has the original hype stickers - promotional single “featuring LIKE A ROLLING STONE” and a red round “FREE! Includes A Striking Portrait Suitable For Framing” sticker. The promotional poster is located on the back cover underneath the shrink wrap. Special print Columbia Records 2.75” pressing ring CL 2389 “RADIO STATION COPY – NOT FOR RESALE” white labels. The vinyl pressed at the Columbia Records Terre Haute, contains the “T” machine stamp in the runout grooves. The mastering of this copy was done by the Columbia Records and CBS, Inc subsidiary, Customatrix Inc. with the runout grooves containing a small machine stamped “o” symbol. The full matrix numbers of this promotional radio station pressing are as follows: Side 1 – T o XLP110638-1B; Side 2 – o XLP110639-1B. This rare promotional album comes with the original blue striped Columbia Records inner sleeve.

The cover remaining in the original fully intact factory shrink wrap is graded as Near Mint Minus. Aside from the light push-in to the top left corner, the cover is in stunning condition. We grade the glossy vinyl as somewhere between Strong Very Good Plus and Excellent Minus. The vinyl retains its shiny factory lacquer only having a few very light non-feelable surface and hairlines as well as scuffs from the original inner sleeve which is in Near Mint condition without having any splits or tears. The snow-white labels are in stunning Near Mint condition and don’t have any scuffs, wear or spindle marks. The vinyl sounds amazing, which is quite impressive considering that this is a DJ Radio Station promotional copy, with perhaps just some very light occasional static which most likely will go away if the record is professionally cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine
