Description

Bob tried to shack up with Asylum in 1974 when his CBS contract expired. It was a short lived relationship. He only released Planet Waves and the double live 'The Flood', on Asylum, before hot footing it back to CBS in summer '74. In fact, the ink was still drying on the contract when 'Before The Flood' was topping the charts. CBS wasted no time and produced a 1st issue on CBS whilst the album still graced the upper reaches of the chart. And the copy we have here is the initial CBS offering in late summer - just a couple of months from the day of release [on Asylum]. The CBS labels with 'Made in England' are the 1st CBS labels obtainable. Note how the vinyl comes housed in a gatefold cover with gold promo stamp on the rear. These 1st CBS copies were obviously produced in a hurry as they've done a complete 'Blue Peter' cut and paste job at the foot on the rear to eliminate the Island & Asylum logos [quite funny really]. Both inners are present too.
Vinyl (Ex+) In remarkable condition having seen only the lightest use. No kidding - these copies have hardly seen a player...utterly pristine. Under close inspection I am struggling to make out a single mark across four sides! A thorough testing from beginning to end reveals an EXCELLENT+ level of playback. Intros and inbetweens are beautifully quiet and the audio comes across with prefect clarity. You can rely on this example delivering a top level rendition. You won't ever find one even close to this copy. This classic Dylan live staple really requires a quite background for maximum impact. I'm struggling to spot anything in the background - at all period. EASY FINAL UPGRADE.
Cover (Ex) Very smart and someone's clearly looked after it. Clean and flat front and rear with only slight record impression. A couple of small nicks midway up the rear - I have blended them in. The interior looks superb - almost perfect. Hardly any visible edge wear and sharp openings. The spine is 99% intact - very impressive. Overall the cover retains excellent rigidity.
Inners (Vg+) Light ageing. No splits.
