YES FOLKS, THIS RECORD IS DEFINATELY AS RARE AS THAT EP RECORD WITH THE ORIGINAL SLADE LINE-UP RELEASED THAT SAME YEAR! AS AN ALBUM I SAW ACETATES BEING SOLD, BUT NEVER THIS VINYL RECORD AND ITS GREAT JACKET.

ABOUT THE ALBUM: 1965 Jimmy Page was already well known as an ace session man, and had a great reputation amongst musicians in this country, but was relatively unknown to the general public. Around this time he hooked up with Bobby Graham, who was a young session drummer/producer at the fontana label, and they forged a working relationship that resulted in the release of the rare, very expensive and truly excellent singles 'she just satisfies'and 'skin deep'/'zoom widge and wag'. Both were collaborations between page and Graham, as were a set of unissued acetates they recorded as ' the talismen ' .
Less well known than those efforts is this lp 'British Percussion', by 'Le London All Star'- a set of recordings very much cut from the same cloth as those collaborations. Unlike the regular workady sessions these guys recorded at the time for other artists, three of the 12 tracks on this album were written by page and graham, and they sound like it- the page guitar touch isn't politely hiding behind orchestration on this record, it is well to the fore, with heavy fuzz riffing on most tracks, and on a totally blistering solo for the track 'lord byron blues' I cannot rave about this track too much- it really is one of the most amazing page solos, with some evil fuzz that'll take the top of your head off. The track 'stop the drums' is similar to some of the sutch and heavy friends era recordings, only better produced, and with a great drum battle at the end, that leaves nothing standing in it's wake...unbelievable..

BY THE WAY, For those who didn't know 'bout the influence of this man who played on over 15.000 titles. Here's a little story about Bobby Graham by Kieron Tyler:
Ray Davies knew about session men. When The Kinks recorded "You Really Got
Me" and "All Day And All Of The Night" Mick Avory was ousted in favour of
session drummer Bob Graham. In his autobiography Kink, Dave Davies recalls
Graham, "He was a great inspirational drummer. I realised what great rock drumming was all about."
But it wasn't only the Kinks that rated Graham. In June I962 Brian Epstein had asked him to replace Pete Best in The Beatles. By I965 he was so well known he had a regular column in Beat Instrumental magazine. As a studio musician Graham played The Outlaws, Joe Brown and The Bruvvers, Marty Wilde and The Wildcats and The John Barry Seven.
During I965 Graham continued playing sessions, but began to put more effort into production work. In February Eddie Barclay, the millionaire playboy owner of Eddy Mitchell's label, asked Graham to produce an album for the French market. Credited to Le London All Star, "British Percussion", released in September I965, was a stereo showcase, with ping-pong percussion effects. Graham used his session colleagues - guitarist John McLaughlin, bassist Alan Weighell. Drummers Andy White and Ronnie Verrall. Jimmy Page's contribution was significant. He played lead on every track and co-wrote three with Graham. The stand-out is "Lord Byron's Blues" a bluesey fuzz/slide guitar work out.
