This fascinating 3-LP box set from EMI (1C 137-53 505/7 M, German Electrola pressing, colored dog-in-stamp label, mono, booklet included) entitled “Böhm in Dresden · Volume II Concertos) features a remarkable tribute to the conductor on the occasion of his 85th birthday, gathering together a number of rare pre-war wartime historical recordings that he made for Electrola with the Sächsische Staatskapelle Dresden and boasting 3 legendary soloists in concerto performances – pianists Wilhlem Backhaus and Walter Gieseking, and violinist Wolfgang Schneiderhan – as well as other orchestral works.

Included is a full-size, 8-page booklet that includes reminiscences penned by Bohm himself of his musical life in Dresden, as well as insightful notes on the music by Ernst Krause – all texts provided in German, English, and French.

CONDITION – PLEASE READ VERY CAREFULLY:

The gradations of condition I use are as follows: MINT, Near-Mint, Excellent, Very Good, Good, Fair, Poor.

The condition of box is near-MINT. The only fault concerns a slight crush to the rear panel, but that is all. There are no corner breaks, seamsplits, owners’ markings, or other defects, and the box remains solid, bright, glossy, and highly attractive – overall, a fine collector’s copy.

The condition of the booklet is EXCELLENT. The inner pages show some discoloration, but there are no markings or tears.

The condition of the 3 LPs is near-MINT throughout and playback is superb – overall, truly fine collector's copies.

This LP has been carefully cleaned using a VPI cleaning machine. All LPs are provided with a new Nagaoka (or Nagaoka-style) inner sleeve.
