VINYL: NM ~Highest gloss vinyl is superb! Hard, direct light reveals one faint surface rub on SIDE B with disc held at angle to light, that is not otherwise visible. It is totally inaudible. LP plays absolutely like new throughout. Labels are immaculate.

The 12" x 12" Insert (printed both sides) is MINT.
The OBI strip is VG+ as it has some wrinkles on back side and is cleanly reinforced with archival clear tape at top and bottom, where it had begun to tear at fold.

Vinyl is housed in an anti-static lined inner sleeve.

A 1975 car accident which left Eno bedridden for several months resulted in perhaps his most significant innovation, the creation of ambient music: unable to move to turn up his stereo to hear above the din of a rainstorm, he realized that music could assume the same properties as light or color, and blend thoroughly into its given atmosphere without upsetting the environmental balance. Heralded by the release of 1975's minimalist Another Green World, Eno plunged completely into ambient with his next instrumental effort, Discreet Music, the first chapter in a ten-volume series of experimental works issued on his own Obscure label.

A universally acknowledged masterpiece, Another Green World represents a departure from conventional song structure and toward a more ethereal, minimalistic approach to sound. Despite the stripped-down arrangements, the album's sumptuous tone quality reflects Eno's growing virtuosity at handling the recording studio as an instrument in itself ( la Brian Wilson). There are a few actual rock songs in the well integrated mix ("St. Elmo's Fire," "I'll Come Running," "Golden Hours"), but most of the album consists of deliberately paced instrumentals that, while often closer to ambient music than rock, are both melodic and rhythmic; many, like "Sky Saw," "In Dark Trees," and "Little Fishes," are highly imagistic, like paintings done in sound that actually resemble their titles.

Lyrics are infrequent, but when they do pop up, they follow the free-associative style of albums past; this time, though, the humor seems less bizarre than gently whimsical and addled, fitting perfectly into the dreamlike mood of the rest of the album.

Most of Another Green World is like experiencing a soothing, dream-filled slumber while awake, and even if some of the pieces have dark or threatening qualities, the moments of unease are temporary, like a passing nightmare whose feeling lingers briefly upon waking but whose content is forgotten. Unlike some of his later, full-fledged ambient work, Eno's gift for melodicism and tight focus here keep the entirety of the album in the forefront of the listener's consciousness, making it the perfect introduction to his achievements even for those who find true ambient music too quiet.

This is the third solo album by ambient pioneer Brian Eno.

The musicians appearing on Another Green World are Brian Eno (snake guitar, digital guitar, desert guitar, castanet guitars, bass guitar, Yamaha bass pedals, organ, Hammond organ, Farfisa organ, Choppy organs, piano, grand piano, Leslie piano, chord piano, Club piano, uncertain piano, prepared piano, synthesizer, synthetic percussion, Peruvian percussion, electric percussion, spasmodic percussion, treated rhythm generator, tape, electric elements and unnatural sounds), Robert Fripp (Wimshurst guitar, restrained lead guitar, Wimborne guitar), Paul Rudolph (guitars), Percy Jones (fretless bass), John Cale (viola), Rod Melvin (Rhodes piano), and Phil Collins (drums, percussion). "Another Green World" was released in the United Kingdom, in 1975.

This stunning Japanese audiophile issue of this record has been buried deep in my collection, as a back-up, housed in its Japanese resealable flap outer sleeve, since I purchased it in the late '70s.

I am not sure, at this time, of the exact release date of this Polydor Japanese issue, but it was certainly before 1980.
