TITLE: Sound Awareness
CONDITION:
Sleeve: The front cover is VG++ w/ a little light ring wear. The back cover is VG w/ more ring wear than Side A, some light foxing/aging and a tiny light stain. The top seam has a fair amount of wear w/ a small split at the right corner, 1" partial split in the middle, 3 1/2" of heavy wear/partial splitting at the top left corner which also has a small bend. The bottom seam is intact except for a 1" split at the bottom right corner. The spine is intact w/ a tiny spot of wear at the top.
Record: Retains high original gloss w/ some light surface scuffs, tiny light nicks and small light scratches. Side A has a small scratch at the beginning of the side that causes light background ticks through about 1/3 of the track. The 4th track has a scratch that causes background ticks through half the track and Track 5 has some tiny nicks cause some random background ticks. Side B plays better, a strong VG++ w/ just some light random background surface noise and some light random background ticks. / VPI cleaned
COMMENTS: Original copy of this rare and wild Avant Garde Spiritual Jazz LP by ex member of Sun Ra's Intergalactic Arkestra. Side A features The Sound Awareness Ensemble on a side long trip - Beyond Yourself (The Midnight Confession). It's a totally tripped out side, not Free Form but almost psychedelically weird. Side B features Max Roach and his percussion ensemble M'Boom on the side long track Love Piece which includes a killer heavy rap from Mr. Roach.
I picked up a nice collection of Jazz LP’s recently including lots of Free Jazz, Avant Garde and Spiritual Jazz. I’ll be listing some in the upcoming weeks and months mixed in with my usual mix of cool & eclectic selections.
NOTE: VPI cleaned means that this record was cleaned on a professional $500 cleaning machine, which does wonders for the playback of all vinyl records!
