3-LP set on FMP Records 0030, 0040, 0050, recorded August 1971. LPs are ELEMENTS, COUSCOUS DE LA MAURESQUE, and THE END. Original deluxe packaging for this now well-circulated music, also the first deluxe edition released by FMP. A white box that opens on edge (with removable metal clasps--also original) includes the very plain jane first pressings (before there was even an FMP logo on the label) of the three LPs, all in immaculate condition in paper sleeves, and 6-panel poster foldout insert that has the only other documentation. The poster apparently had the "plus" to add Mangelsdorff hand-added. Also taped to this page [lower right in photo] is a shard of rubber balloon that was included in all of the first boxes. It was part of an inflatable that Nam Jun Paik used in a public performance. After it was exploded in the show, Brotz gathered the shards and included one in each of the original boxes. Still taped here, as when it began. This box is hand numbered on the cover as # 133 out of the very limited and very prized edition.

This is one of about 800 pieces of vinyl from the LP collection of saxophonist Evan Parker, all to be auctioned over the next year by this seller and seller "soulful-i". Roughly one half of the collection comprises modern Jazz LPs (including large collections of Coltrane and Dolphy originals) brought back by Parker on his early Sixties trips to the US; those will be listed by soulful-i. Parker also acquired hundreds of avant-garde and improvised music LPs directly from fellow musicians and contemporaries; these will be auctioned here. Nearly all are new or play as new.
