This recording contains one of Buddy Holly's most famous and important albums: his debut LP The ‘Chirping’ Crickets, a masterpiece that helped define the very nature of rock “n” roll.
The original twelve tracks on his debut album are a greatest hits collection featuring such unmistakable gems as ‘Oh Boy!’, ‘Not Fade Away’, ‘Maybe Baby’ and ‘That'll Be the Day’, all of which testify to the immortality of rock “n” roll.
Holly's ringing guitar and hiccuping vocals came from a different sensibility than Chuck Berry's blues-tinged playing, but the backbeat and optimism of the lyrics brought them together under the banner of rock “n” roll. Even the lesser-known songs on the album are a joy to listen to.
Together with the ten bonus tracks, this album is a true greatest hits release from Buddy Holly.
