Description

Listing part of our Fathers collection of Buddy Holly and Buddy Holly and the Crickets memorabilia - here's a great item!

This is the rarest U.K. single by Buddy Holly titled "Blue Day - Black Night". This is the original and highly sought after 1956 UK 45 RPM 1st press, on the Brunswick label with tri-centre and black label

My Father had to order this copy - as in 1956 the 7 inch 45 RPM vinyl single had yet to supercede the dominant 78 RPM records, only a very small amount of titles were selected to be pressed in the new 45 RPM format. These were pressed in very small quantities, usually around the 500 mark at a time, Buddy's "Blue Day - Black Night" being one of these rare 45s

This was released well over a year before Buddy Holly and the Crickets had their break through hit "That'll be The Day". 50+ years later, its hard to know just how many of these rare 1st pressed singles of Buddys exist (and in what state) but this must be just about the finest ever offered for sale. In the most outstanding condition for its age, just about 100% and still with its sleeve, and the added bonus of the "hard" cover purchased at the same time for safe storage (cost we was told was "Tuppence" at that time, much, much less than 1 new pence today !!) from the record shop where our Father bought all his records from.                   please see the other buddy holly and buddy holly and the crickets items we have listed this time.
