Now when I first heard that Varg was going back into the studio to record a new black metal album, I must admit my hopes weren't high. The last two ambient releases, though interesting, made me suspect that Varg had lost his creative edge. Thankfully, Belus showed me just how wrong I was. This album is filled with a surprising variety of material, going from droney and atmospheric to driving and thrashy in an instant...highly recommend it to any fan of the genre, because it would seem that Burzum has risen once again!!!best metal album of 2010?
