Original UK rough orange Elektra mono press LP.

The fourth album by the Butterfield Blues Band recorded at Chess Studios, Chicago and released in July 1968. The album featured several tracks with a horn section featuring David Sanborn and even Al Kooper on organ. This move towards a more soulful sound with a mixture of blues and jazz influences, with combined vocal harmonies confused many fans at the time. Two of the original members guitarist Elvin Bishop and Mark Naftalin, left after its release, but the rest of the band would continue to develop their fusion style into 1969 and beyond.

This is the original mono issue with the 'Manufactured In...' laminated sleeve, the rough orange & black big 'E' Elektra labels, with the A-1 B-1 matrices & A-1 A-2 stampers of the first few hundred presses.   The MacNeill Press Ltd fully laminated sleeve is intact & in VG+ condition, with some corner/edge wear & some laminate rubbing/creasing on the front cover, with some laminate lifting along the spine. The spine is intact and fully readable, the plain company inner is intact & in EX condition.   The record is in visually EX condition, with only a couple of sleeve removal hairlines/scuffs and one or two small needle scuffs/marks visible on each side, but there is a tiny needle drop on the start of side 1. The labels are clean & bright in EX condition, with evidence of one or two faint spindle markings on each side side.   The sound reproduction is EX to EX+, still clear & precise throughout with definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some brief background noise during the run in grooves and a few clicks during the quiet intro to side 1 caused by the needle drop. Overall, still a really nice, loud and clear listen.   The hand etched matrix nos. are; EKL-4025, A-1, stamper A-1, B-1 stamper A-2. This is one of the very early copies of the 1st pressing of the original 1968 UK mono issue of this album.
