Description

Original UK CBS label stereo 1st press.

'Sweetheart of the Rodeo' is the sixth album by the Byrds and was released on August 30, 1968. The new country influences of this album were in part due to Gram Parsons, but due to conflicts in the studio with Hillman & McGuinn, he was gradually eased out and finally sacked before the album was released. Eventually most of his vocals were replaced by Hillman and McGuinn, although three of his vocal tracks were retained.

This is the original stereo pressing with the rough orange CBS labels, the very earliest A-1 B-1 matrices and B-1 B-3 stampers!   The Ernest J. Day & Co Ltd sleeve is intact & in EX condition, with some light laminate storage wear and small creases on the front cover & the unlaminated rear cover has some light storage rubbing. The spine is intact and fully readable, the plain company inner is intact & in EX condition.     The record is in visually EX condition, with a couple of faint sleeve removal hairlines and one or two small needle scuffs marks visible on each side. The labels are in EX condition, clean & bright with evidence of one or two very faint spindle markings on each side.     The sound reproduction is EX, still clear & precise throughout with definately no skips, sticks or jumps, but there is some brief background noise during the run in grooves.
Overall, a really great, loud & clear listen.   The matrix nos. are; SBPG-63353, A-1 stamper B-1, B-1 stamper B-3. This is one of the early copies of the 1st pressing of the original 1968 UK stereo issue of this album!
