Description
Here's a mysterious version of the Byrds' classic "Sweetheart Of The Rodeo." Here's what I know:
- The record has been in my personal collection since 1971. - It is a re-press, as indicated by the red and orange Columbia label. - The jacket bears a "Stereo Can Also Be Played On Mono Equipment" disclaimer on the front and back. - The inner sleeve is a Columbia Records "Inner Sleeve," featuring releases from 1971. - The matrix #s are: XSM 136653-1B and XSM 136654-1E, which cannot be located in any of the usual record guides (Discogs, etc.)! - The deadwax on both sides bears a stamped "T," which I believe represents the Columbia Terre Haute, IN plant.
I suspect that this pressing is among the very first of the '71 reissue, which is more commonly attributed to the Columbia Santa Maria factory. That's my educated guess, at any rate.
For Byrds collectors, I am guessing that this variant is very uncommon! If anyone out there can supply further information, I'd be more than interested...
As for this particular copy, it is in EX+ condition all around. There is very slight shelf/edge/ring wear on the sleeve, but essentially it is straight, sharp, and exceedingly presentable.
Similarly, the disc is gleaming and playback reveals no issues beyond typical light surface noise common to nearly all vinyl LPs in similarly excellent condition.
Please see pics for further detail.
