VERY rare original private pressing LP
Vinyl Excellent,
Sleeve Front near Excellent, only noteable fault being some slight marking mainly about 1 inch from the leftside which looks like it could be removed if you wanted to have a pristine cover, all edges and corners showing only little handling wear

Vinyl Side 1 better than Excellent , Label no significant wear, maybe a hint of spindle marking
Vinyl Side 2 Excellent just 2 visible hairlines which don’t effect play, Label no significant wear, maybe a hint of spindle marking.
Both labels show transferring through of the clean up marks from the vinyl pressing, but this is underneath the label not a fault and is an indication of the home made private pressing nature of the records production.
Both sides play very nicely and cleanly as they should.
No insert-lyric sheet unfortunately with this copy.
Group members include Maggie Delves who provides superb vocals, Pete Ryder (who was also involved in the slightly earlier and equally rare folk album by Paradise Square), as well as Paul Stockdale, Sian Harry and Barry Walton.
Recorded at Fairview Music Studio, Willerby on 20th March 1976.
"Beautiful delicate British progressive folk custom featuring lovely female lead singing alternating with fragile male vocals that are imperfect yet charming. This is an exceptional record, on equal footing with classics like Presence and Caedmon. Several songs combine acoustic guitar and piano for soft melancholy moods, including ‘Just A Beginner’, ‘Better Day’, the title track, and ‘Hill Climbing For Beginners’, the latter a cover of the Water Into Wine Band song. Other selections like ‘A Song For Judas’, ‘Longer And Longer’, ‘Sand In My Shoes’ and ‘Winter Lady’ build a brisk folky sound, skillfully mixing rhythm and lead acoustic guitar. Gorgeous ethereal female vocals on ‘September Night Song’ and ‘Summer’s End’The group’s name is derived from The Chronicles Of Narnia, as is the attractive black and white pen-and-ink cover artwork.
