CAN, TAGO MAGO, KRAUTROCK, 2 x VINYL LPs, 1971

Can – Tago Mago

Can were founded in 1968 in Cologne, West Germany by Holger Czukay (bass), Irmin Schmidt (keyboards), Michael Karoli (guitar), Jaki Liebezeit (drums) and David Johnston who left in 1969. While their earlier recordings tended to be loosely based on traditional song structures, on their mid-career albums the band reverted to an extremely fluid improvisational style. Tago Mago is often seen as a groundbreaking, influential and deeply unconventional record, based on intensely rhythmic jazz-inspired drumming, improvised guitar and keyboard soloing, tape edits as composition, and Suzuki's idiosyncratic vocalisms. This is their third studio album released in 1971. The line-up for this album was Holger Czukay (bass, double bass), Michael Karoli (guitar, violin, mandolin), Jaki Liebezeit (drums, percussion, double bass, wind instruments), Irmin Schmidt (keyboards, synthesizers, percussion, vocals), Damo Suzuki (vocals, percussion, wind instruments).
Side One: Paperhouse; Mushroom; Oh Yeah.
Side Two: Hallelujah.

 Side Three: Aumgn.
Side Four: Peking O; Bring Me Coffee Or Tea.

Condition: (as Record Collector's grading system. If I see a mark it will be mentioned however light/small, apart from the usual very light paper scuffs/marks - usually caused by record being removed from the inner sleeve, which appear on nearly all old records and which are only visible under strong light)
Vinyl side 1: excellent (quite a few very light wispy marks that do not affect the audio in any way, plays without fault).
Vinyl side 2: excellent (quite a few very light wispy marks that do not affect the audio in any way, plays without fault).
Vinyl side 3: excellent (quite a few very light wispy marks that do not affect the audio in any way, plays without fault).
Vinyl side 4: excellent (quite a few very light wispy marks that do not affect the audio in any way, plays without fault).
Cover (unlaminated, textured, envelope style, top opener): very good (some wear to bottom and side edges and the four corners, creased on the tab on the back cover - see photos).
Comes with the original United Artists inner sleeves - see photo.
The record plays with no jumps, skips or clicks and minimal crackle.
I have tried to give my honest opinion as to the condition. I will give a complete refund to the buyer if they are not happy with the record.
Any questions, don't hesitate to ask.

RECORD COLLECTOR GRADING SYSTEM:
MINT: I very rarely use the mint grade. Only records that are still sealed or records that even under the strongest of lights are completely unmarked. Also covers that are unmarked/uncreased in any way and still look brand new.
EXCELLENT: The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is no lessening in sound quality. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD: The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD: The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR: The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump. The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR: The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD: The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.
