Description
Here is a fine first pressing UK stereo copy of the majestic double album, Tago Mago by Can, on the original United Artists label from 1971 (UAD 60009/10). It comes in its original textured envelope-style flip-top sleeve. Original copies are much sought after.
Here is a rare surviving example of an unlaminated textured custom sleeve that was always prone to damage. If not treated with respect, the envelope-style sleeve featuring a protruding tab to insert into the rear panel, would rapidly deteriorate. Here is an example that has clearly been cared for. This undamaged sleeve is strong and straight, the tab doesn't droop and the whole item has no rips, tears or unwanted scrawl. This genuine example suffers only from a sticker tear top right, corner rubbing and general edgewear. But there is an honesty in this sleeve, for most would have been touched up with the old black felt tip pen around the edges and coloured in over their sticker tears. But this sleeve has not been messed with in any way. It bears its scars with pride, and warrants a grade of VG-.
The original two slabs of heavyweight first pressing vinyl (the four matrices end with A-1/B-1 and A-1-B-1) have been very well cared for, with hardly any marks visible even when examined closely under harsh halogen lighting. The original coffee and cream UA labels show very little sign of spindle activity and all four sides perform beautifully. This perfectly matched set of first pressing records comfortably merits a grade of EX.
Good luck if you are bidding (if bidding from outside of the UK please contact me to request postage costs etc). I try to be meticulous with my descriptions - be assured that I do not try to pass off worn out albums as near mint. Swift payment required at end of auction please.
ALSO PLEASE CHECK OUT MY OTHER ITEMS (I am currently listing some lovely '60s and '70s albums for your consideration, including true heavyweight second pressings of S. F. Sorrow by Pretty Things and Piper at the Gates of Dawn by The Pink Floyd, which you may also be interested in).
