MADE IN CANADA
POP/PSYCHEDELIC ROCK LP
His real name was Robert Cromwell Anson. He started his musical life as a jazz drummer, playing with the likes of Brian Auger and Ronnie Scott in the early '60s, using the name "Phil Kinorra". Then he changed his name to "Julien Covey" and released a 45 on Island Records in 1967 ("A Little Bit Hurt" b/w "Sweet Bacon"). He even filled in for Keith Moon at a Who concert in Scotland while Moon was recovering from hernia surgery.
""Then he changed his name to Philamore Lincoln and released a one-off 45 on the NEMS label ("Running By The River" b/w "Rainy Day"). The following year he recorded the North Wind Blew South album.
Because the album was only released in the U.S., many people assumed he was American. But he was actually from Nottingham (and still lives there). His father ran Peter Anson Electronics for many years.
Another rumor is that Lincoln's backing band was The Yardbirds. However, Chris Dreja and Jim McCarty have both denied this (Dreja says his only involvement was to take Lincoln's photo). The guitar solo on "You're The One" does sound quite a bit like Jimmy Page, although neither Page nor Lincoln has confirmed that it was him.""
