I have acquired a quantity of LP's from a collector some of which are 1st pressings. I am no expert in this field but through some knowledge and research I will describe the album as accurately as possible. If you know better then please feel free to correct me although done quite well so far. Here we have, Canned Heat, "Boogie with Canned Heat" UK Liberty 1968 blue label with black text, Catalogue No. LBS 83103, a first Stereo Pressing which is harder to find as most releases were Mono. The vinyl is housed in a front laminated cover with the blue Liberty logo, Stereo.
Matrix. A side. (LBS 83103 A) Run out - LBS 83103 A // 1 v 420 B side. (LBS 83103 B) Run out - LBS 83103 B // 2 v 420
Condition: Using standard grading system. Vinyl - VG to EX. Both sides have the original deep glossy sheen with a few very light surface hairlines which do not affect play and nothing at all serious. Both labels are excellent with the usual spidering marks around the spindle hole. It plays as you would expect although I do need to upgrade my current equipment. There is the odd pop and crackle which apparently the norm with this first pressing. Inner sleeve. VG+ Intact with no rips or tears. It is creased on the corners and has a discoloured slightly yellow tinge. The inner poly is is intact and VG+. Album cover. VG+ Laminated front which has some areas where the laminate appears creased in a certain light. There is the usual surface wear where it has been taken in and out of a case or rack. No graffiti or other marks. The opening edge is a little worn and like fluffy? The bottom edge flap has come unglued and someone has tried to sellotape it together with two small pieces about 2" long which are ineffective and probably came of the ark. Only requires re-glueing. The spine is very good as is the rear of the cover.
All in all this is a really nice Album and a rare blast from the past.
