“CAPISSIMO”
“Volumen II”
RARE original RCA Records very first MONO press released in Chile in 1972 by RCA Records, catalog number CML-2931 and matrix numbers: CML-2931-A EB-CC in Side 1 and CML-2931-B EB-CD in Side 2, with rare white RCA labels.
“CAPISSIMO” wasn’t originally a commercial record, this compilation record was released by RCA Records only in Chile in 1970 like part of the promotion for the new RCA turntable released in Chile that year. In 1972, however, RCA released a second volume “CAPISSIMO”, for commercial purposes and like in 1970 the cover is UNIQUE, like many covers of that period, it’s made of 2 single sheets of paper partially pasted on a thin cardboard folded in the middle and kept all together by an outer plastic bag. Front cover has an original artwork that you can see in the pictures and in back cover is the tracklist. It’s interesting to see that in front cover the title of the album is “CAPISSIMO VOLUMEN II” but in back cover it’s “CAPISSIMO VOL. 2”. In labels the title is written “CAPPISSIMO VOL. II”.
The songs in this exclusive RCA compilation for Chilean market are:
Side 1:
1 Safari Salvaje - Barrabás
2 Si Supieras – Maria Esther Lovero
3 Cindy – Tony Blackburn
4 Que La Dejen Ir Al Baile Sola – Rubén Mattos
5 Tonight - Donald
6 Playas Somnolientas – Roberto Inglez Y Su Orquesta
Side 2:
1 Vacaciones De Verano – Roberto Inglez Y Su Orquesta
2 Es Mi Chica Favorita – Raúl Padovani
3 Popcorn (Palomitas De Maiz) – Viva La Música
4 Palabras, Palabras – Silvana Di Lorenzo Y Osvaldo Brandi
5 Dulce Sissi – Quique Villanueva
6 Starman – David Bowie
It’s very interesting to see that most of song titles are in Spanish, except “Tonight”, “Popcorn” and “Starman”, but they are translated to Spanish in both back cover and labels. The only exception is David Bowie’s “Starman” which’s written in English only. And maybe this song is the great find in this record, because it’s a bit different to the style of the other songs in this compilation, and mostly because this is a MONO version!!! WOW!!!
The cover was already described and it’s in VG+ or EX- condition for both sides, clean, complete, no marks or names written, no ring marks, only some wear at the mouth edge and corners. The record is in strong VG condition, glossy and clean, but many scuffs and some light scratches, which don’t affect play. Labels are in VG+ or EX- condition, clean and clear but with initials of some past owner in Side 1 (“LR” written with pink pencil). The sound is in VG+ or EX- condition both sides, loud, clear and clean, no background noise at all (surface noise is normal in records from Chile), no crackles, very good audio quality with only some pops at the end of “Dulce Sissi” and before the beginning of “Starman”. Overall, this record is in superb condition with a very nice cover and still an amazing sound quality after almost 40 years, with no distortions, no skips, no repetitions at all!!! And the most important, remember this record includes a MONO version of David Bowie’s “Starman”!!! WOW!!! What a find!!!
Bid with confidence and don’t wait until the last second because you could lose the chance to get a real collectable record from Chile (South America) in superb condition like this copy is. You know South American records aren’t easy to get in good conditions, so HAPPY BIDDING and don’t let this record to go away… you could never see a so good copy of this record again… if you are lucky enough to see even another copy again…
Thanks for watching and bidding, good luck and best regards from Chile
_________________________________________________________
We don’t use the generic “VG” most of South American sellers use to hide poor quality conditions or “NM” or “Mint” for records which aren’t even clean and sound less than a normal “VG” in professional standards. We use the Record Collector’s Grading System with a little modification: we don’t use MINT grade but for Sealed records and we can use a + or – to show a most professional accurate description.
MINT (M): I only use this grade for Sealed records.
NEAR MINT (NM): The record itself is in like new condition with no surface marks or deterioration in sound quality (only some very very very light hairlines caused for the record rubbing the sleeve). The cover and any extra items such as the lyric sheet, booklet or poster are in like perfect condition.
EXCELLENT (EX): The record shows some signs of having been played, but there is very little lessening in sound quality, maybe some surface marks which doesn’t affect play. The cover and packaging might have slight wear and/or creasing.
VERY GOOD (VG): The record has obviously been played many times, but displays no major deterioration in sound quality, despite noticeable surface marks and the occasional light scratch. Normal wear and tear on the cover or extra items, without any major defects, is acceptable.
GOOD (G): The record has been played so much that the sound quality has noticeably deteriorated, perhaps with some distortion and mild scratches. The cover and contents suffer from folding, scuffing of edges, spine splits, discoloration, etc.
FAIR (F): The record is still just playable but has not been cared for properly and displays considerable surface noise; it may even jump.
The cover and contents will be torn, stained and/or defaced.
POOR (P): The record will not play properly due to scratches, bad surface noise, etc. The cover and contents will be badly damaged or partly missing.
BAD (B): The record is unplayable or might even be broken, and is only of use as a collection-filler.

FEEDBACK
We don’t have anything to hide and we know the buyers expect to receive feedback after to pay for the items they win. Most of sellers say to give feedback when buyers leave feedback first. But we know that’s not fair for buyers. So, we leave feedback immediately after to receive the payment, because we understand that’s the part that buyers must receive feedback for. And we expect to receive a positive feedback from buyers who receive the records immediately after they have got the records.
