Description
CAPTAIN BEEFHEART AND HIS MAGIC BAND Safe as Milk VINYL LP PYE INTERNATIONAL NPL 28110 MONO 1967 UK pressing
Laminated front with flapjack sleeve
Debut album from Captain Beefheart and his hugely talented Magic band - Announcing a new and pioneering approach to contemporary rock
mixing raw delta blues with Psychedelic rock and the singular uncompromising vocal approach of the good Captain.
Safe as Milk did not sell too many copies on release in the US or in the UK which is probably not too surprising as it is very much a step into new territory - But for those with open ears including John Lennon here was a new musical force of nature - It took the rest of us quite a while to catch up ....
Here is a A1/B1 pressing of the UK issue from 1967 with the Dynamic MONO mix . This copy is in VERY GOOD CONDITION with some evidence of wear on the front sleeve ( Quite a few small crease marks from the edges - and a small pen mark on rear sleeve ( which i hope you can see in the photos)
VINYL is Visually VERY GOOD with a few light surface marks but probably close to Just UNDER EXCELLENT - Audibly there are a few crackles in the quietest passages and in between track and just at the start of side one but PYE pressings are not that forgiving . There are a few light spindle marks around the label - This copy has clearly been played a few times as you might expect from an LP of this vintage and calibre !
