Description
What a thing of beauty! Not only is this seminal classic a work of genius, the packaging of this 1st UK issue is a work of art too. Original 1969 1st UK issue on Straight label, cat number STS 1053, this copy is in great shape for its age.
The vinyl is overall VG+ - there are some light hairlines, and the occasional scuff. This results in a light crackle, which is more pronounced in places (in the intro to track 5 and the start of side C & D mainly) and barely audible in others (the most part) when played at 1.75g. The matrix stamps are respectively 2 STS 1053 A1 / B1 / C1 / D1. For some reason side 4, track 5 is named as "The Blimp" on the sleeve and "The Blimb" on the label.
The sleeve is in overall VG+ condition. There are a couple of marks which I have tried to capture in the pictures, notably shelfware on the top of the spine and around the openings. There is also a price sticker removal mark on the cover (which I am told is a badge of its 1st issue status as these copies had large stickers to the left of the fish-bloke's hat).
So, there you are - a pretty decent all round copy. A few imperfections but when you consider it is nearly half a century old and its brilliance you would expect it to have been played a few times.
