Up for auction is an original pressing of Captain Beefheart and the Magic Band Trout Mask Replica. This pressing features the 1053  catalog number on the cover and matching 1053 record labels. The records are in VG++ and excellent condition. Very clean vinyl. This pressing sounds awesome. I have several original pressings of this record and this one is really clean and quiet. I even heard some details that i havent heard in some of my other pressings. Has original inner sleeves and original insert. Insert is a little wrinkled and has a small stain on the front but its in great shape otherwise. Inner sleeves have some seam splits. This is a really nice keeper copy of this record. The deadwax info was really strange it was arranged differently on each side record. This pressing has the original STS-1053 catalog number etched into the deadwax, then scratched out and then the MS-2027 number etched in the deadwax as well. The paper record labels and the cover have the STS1053 catalog number. I heard this was a rare pressing. It definitely has some strange deadwax info. Dead wax info- Side 1. A 2MS 2027-31041 / STS1053-1 1A (the STS1053-1 1A has a line scratched through it) Side2. 31042-B 2MS-2027-A1 2-STS-1053-2 o "P" (with a line scratched through the 2-STS1053-2) This is the only side with the letter "P" etched into the deadwax. Side 3. A / 2MS-2027 31043-C 1 STS1053-3 o / A (with a line scratched through the STS1053-3) Side 4. A 1  s o (upside down 2) 2-STS-1053-4 - 1B (RE) 31044-d 2MS-2027 (With a line scratched throuhgh the STS-1053-4 part) The deadwax info on this side starts of with a large letter A scratched into the deadwax followed by the number 1. This is the only side that has this.
  The cover is VG or better. See pics It is in great shape especially for an early Troutmask cover. This one has the early textured wax based cover which seems to be hard to find in really good shape. The front cover has some ring wear. The seams are very strong with just a little wear along the edges. The corners are the only part of the cover that are showing significant wear mainly the bottom left. Most of the edges are nice and crisp. Some shelf wear here and there along the edges.
 Record will be shipped outside of the cover. The record will be mailed in a record mailer with cardboard pads/inserts to further protect the record. Record mailer is high quality. consists of 200lb test cardboard with a 32lb edge crush rating. I have been collecting records for years and totally understand how to safely ship records.
