WHAT IS REALLY INTERESTING ABOUT THIS PRESSING IS THAT THE HAND-ETCHED MATRICES IN THE DEAD WAX INCLUDE BOTH ORIGINAL STRAIGHT MATRIX NUMBER STS-1053 AND THE SECOND STRAIGHT MATRIX NUMBER 2MS-2027, LEADING ME TO BELIEVE THAT THIS BIZARRE PRESSING WAS ACTUALLY IN PRINT IN BETWEEN THE FIRST AND THE SECOND STRAIGHT PRESSINGS AND THAT IT ACTUALLY PREDATES THE STRAIGHT PRESSING WITH THE MATRIX NUMBER 2MS-2027
THIS IS A MONSTROUSLY RARE TRANSITIONAL PRESSING ON FRANK ZAPPA'S BIZARRE LABEL – THE PRESSING WHICH TECHNICALLY SHOULD NOT EVEN EXIST, SINCE THE ORIGINAL PRESSINGS OF THIS ALBUM WERE RELEASED ON STRAIGHT LABEL (1969) AND THE SUBSEQUENT PRESSINGS WERE RELEASED ON REPRISE LABEL (1974).
Gatefold shows only some very light and minor wear. Initials written top left. No rips, no splits. No tape. See photos.
Vinyl -- rare original sleeve -- boasts original shine, gloss and luster. It looks as if rarely if ever played. I'll easily grade at NM.
All in all, this is a great LP -- described and graded visually -- at a remarkable starting price.
