***** In the Land of Gray and Pink is considered by many to be Caravan's pinnacle album. It contains an undeniable  sense of humor and charm and European determination. Also, this would mark the end of the band's first formation. Co-founder David Sinclair would leave Caravan to form Matching Mole with Soft Machine drummer and vocalist Robert Wyatt in August  1971. As a group effort, In the Land of Gray and Pink showcases all the music. the ethereal brilliance that Caravan created on their previous pair of 12 "outputs. Their mix of jazz and folk instruments and improvisational style hints at Transport and Family, as seen in "Winter Wine", as well as the organ and sax intro for "Nine Feet" Underground." These contrast with the fierce competition of King Crimson or Soft Machine albums. In fact, from the album's title, there seem to be  qualities and pastoral motifs throughout. Another reason enthusiasts rate this album as a favorite is that the group's dynamics are rarely  more singular or cohesive. David Sinclair's lyrics are particularly notable, especially the image of Middle-earth used in "Winter Wine" or the long beautiful verse of "Golf Girl". The remake of this album includes previously unreleased demos/alternative versions of both songs with the titles: "It Likely to Have a Name Next Week" and "Group Girl", respectively. The remastered disc also includes "I Don't Know Its Name (Alias ​​the Word)" and "Aristocracy", two tracks that were completed, but were shelved because of time restrictions that were in place at the time. The latter composition was remade and published on Caravan's next album, Waterloo Lily. The 12-page notebook includes rich graphics, a memoir, and an essay written specifically for the reissue.
