THE CARLO BÄDER BIG BAND Portrait Of C (Private Pressing KOB 100) RARE German Original Pressing MINT
RARE original German first pressing of The Carlo Bäder Big Band`s debut album "Portrait Of C", a private pressing (1973).
Unfortunately, even a diligent internet search doesn`t turn up much information on this excellent free-form jazz big band from Southern Germany. Suffice to say that "Portrait Of C" was recorded in 1973 and very probably issued by pianist and bandleader Carlos Bäder himself, or by an immediate associate. The musicianship is uniformly excellent and inspired, with influences ranging from electric-era Miles Davis to Dave Brubeck`s "Take Five", with a sprinkling of Latin rhythms added for good measure. The recording itself, featuring the Studiobigband Karlsruhe, is of course absolutely top-notch. Probably not more than a few hundred copies of "Portrait of C" were ever in circulation: Definitely something for the discerning jazz collector.
