Carlos Garnett – The New Love Muse Records – MR 5133 12" LP Original Pressing 1978
--> This item is from the estate of Ira Gitler, influential jazz critic and historian, whose writing appeared regularly in magazines like DownBeat and JazzTimes. He wrote several books on the subject including multiple editions of The Encyclopedia of Jazz. Ira Gitler was also one of the most prodigious writers of liner notes, annotating more than 700 albums. In 2017 he was named a Jazz Master by the National Endowment for the Arts.
This records features funky mid-seventies jazz fusion from Panamanian-American saxophonist Carlos Garnett (1938-2023). Garnett also played with Art Blakey, Charles Mingus and Miles Davis.
The record is very clean and barely played, no surface scratches etc. The sleeve shows some light ring wear, and a small spot ofwear in the middle of the bottom edge. There is some very slight separation between cover and board in 2 places about 1/4 way down from the top at the cover opening, both front and back, with two small cracks in the front cover material showing from this. Please see photos as my description makes it sound worse than it looks.
