Carole King / Martin Slavin / Abbé Gail - Gold Star studios test pressing.

‘Child of Mine’ is a song on Carole King’s debut 1970 album. So this dates from the very late 60s.

Prehaps of more interest is ‘A Town Called Love’ by British arranger and jazz man Martin Slavin and his wife and singer Abbé Gail. Slavin left the UK in the mid to late 60s and worked as an arranger / producer in Los Angeles. I’m guessing he worked at the Gold Star studios and was allowed to put his song on the back of this Carole King test pressing. The music is well arranged orchestral pop, with brass touches and a great vocal performance from Abbé Gail.
