The collaboration of Pablo Casals and Rudolf Serkin in both the interpretation and performance of Beethoven's Complete Sonatas for Cello and Piano is  regarded as one of the finest ever recorded.

From one of the earliest Casals Festivals, offered is the 1st Edition Pressing of Beethoven's complete compositions for cello and piano.

More familiar among collectors is the later reissue by Columbia Records of this performance on their "Six Eye" label.  This is not the reissue.

Our offered 1st Edition is a 3 vinyl record box set on Columbia Blue and Silver labels.  The inner sleeves are attached to the box with a dowel spine (please see our photo gallery),  as was customary among record manufacturers for Classical Recordings in the early years of the 33? Vinyl "Long Plays".

This Ed1 box set is very difficult to find, and particularly so in our offering's superb, investment-grade condition of EX+, as described more completely below:

THE VINYL -  EX+ :  Lightly played with minimal evidence of spindlewear (please see photos), all six sides of these 3 LPs retain all of their original gloss.  From the visual appearance of the surfaces and the labels, these records have had very little playtime.
 
Bright, undamaged, Blue and Silver Columbia Masterworks labels (please see photos).
 
Evident are some very light marks, including sleevewear from the original manila paper inner sleeve, and a few shallow hairlines. There are no deep marks, and the tracks play cleanly with no skipping or sticking.
 
All three records have been carefully handled, infrequently played, and the audio playback is impressive.





THE BOX SET COVER -  EX :  The front cover is laminated, with a textured back cover / some front cover scuffing and small indentations / some corner fraying / on the outside of the box, the original textured black tape used as the seam has split- so rather than opening and staying attached to the back cover, the front cover comes off the back cover.  

From the photos, you can see the original "liner notes" are in fine shape - complete and securely attached.  The dowel (spine) attaching the manila inner sleeves to the metal corners is also in fine shape. 

 There is no writing, paper loss, stains or dirt.

     


We have placed each of the LPs into separate, protective plastic sleeves.
