One of the most sought-after German jazz records. The second part of the Catch Up racordings. Catch Up Vol. 1 is going for 300 EUR these days and has already been reissued. Most of you might know the „Onkel Joe“ track or the cover version of „Spinning Wheel“ which is a favorite of many jazz DJs.
Amazing breaks on this LP. There’s a drum break on „Uru“, a Fender Rhodes intro on „Bigosh“ and a bassline intro on „Clown“. All in the right tempo, if you know what I mean… I love this record, because it combines jazz and funk in a wonderful way.
Jazz fans might be the ones to really care about this record though: Compared to Vol. 1. I consider Vol. 2 a lot better, even if Charly Antolini did not play the drums on this session. Musically, the players have grown since their first meeting! Some incredible solos…
