Description
This is an extremely rare WLP box set titled "20 Years Of Hits From Columbia Records Especially For You" on the front of the box. The spine says "Columbia Records Hall Of Fame 1951-1971" The box itself doesn't have a catalog number, but the records are numbered AE2 1012 through AE2 1020. The front of the box has a gold sticker with someone's name on it. I believe that this person was someone high up at Columbia Records, and this was given as a souvenir or some kind of award. Whatever the history; in my 40+ years of collecting; I have never seen another one like it. -------- The records are all white label promos, with the Columbia 2 Eye logo and red print. All records are marked stereo, even the ones with music from back in the '50's. -------- All records are pristine and show no signs of having been played. The jackets are very nice with just a little bit of wear they might have from rubbing up against each other in the box. None are split. The box lid has a couple of cracked corners from the paper drying out over the last 40 years. There are some stains on the from where something was spilled on it. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------ The artists on this album were the biggest names in the CBS catalog ---- Tony Bennett, Rosemary Clooney, Frankie Laine, Johnnie Ray, Doris Day, Guy Mitchell, -- Percy Faith, Jimmy Boyd,-- Red Buttons, The Four Lads, Joan Weber, -- Fess Parker, Mitch Miller, Don Cherry, Vic Damone, -- Johnny Mathis, Terry Gilkyson and The Easy Riders, Marty Robbins, Johnny Horton, Stonewall Jackson, -- The Brothers Four, Buzz Clifford, Jimmy Dean, Steve Lawrence, Claude King, Eydie Gorme, Andy Williams, Dion, Bill Purcell, -- Barbara Streisand, The Rip Chords, Patti Page, Bob Dylan, Billy Joe Royal, Simon & Garfunkel, The Byrds, The Statler Brothers, Paul Revere & The Raiders, Ray Coniff, The Cyrkle-- Gary Puckett & The Union Gap, The Buckinghams, O.C. Smith, Blood, Sweat & Tears, Johnny Cash -- Mark Lindsay, Santana, Chicago, Ronnie Dyson, Lynn Anderson, Janis Joplin, The Raiders --------------------- It's possible that this is the only set like it left. ********************************************** Please see my other ads for more unusual audiophile items including MFSL half speed LP's and gold CD's.
