Description

Creedence Clearweater Revival  "Cosmo's Factory"

This is an original US vinyl pressing on Fantasy 8402  from 1970.    This was their fifth album.     This is a stereo white label promo copy.      It's pressed on slightly flexible vinyl.   The labels are all white with a black circle inside the labels circular groove.      The cover has no promotional markings.   The matrix numbers are machine stamped : F-2800 and F-2801.      Fantasy Records did not put 'side 1' or 'side 2' on their labels when this was released.

Creedence is one of the very best American Rock 'N' Roll bands.   Their music is known for gutsy lead guitars, distictive vocals, and a Southern rock attitude.     We can thank John Fogerty for that.    He wrote the music, he wrote the lyrics, and he arranged and produced their best songs.     They had 10 hit singles and 6 hit albums in two years.     And after 40 years their music is still played on the radio and it still sounds great.

This might be their very best album.     It starts with their first best long song.    It's a great rocker that goes through lots of time changes until it returns to the original groove.     Then comes a Bo Diddley cover : 'Before You Accuse Me', which was later covered by Eric Clapton.   Then comes the huge # 2 hit "Travelin' Band'.    Next is the cool Roy Orbison cover "Ooby Dooby', which could have been another hit if it was released on 45.    "Lookin' Out My Back Door' was another # 2 hit.     The side ends with the # 2 hit "Run Through The Jungle'        Side two starts with the # 4 hit 'Up Around The Bend', with it's tremendous guitar intro.    Next is an Arthur Crudup cover of 'My Baby Left Me'.    Then comes another hit that gets played on rainy days.    Then comes their second best long song : 'I Heard It Though The Grapevine'.     It's an 11:05 long cover of the hit by Gladys Knight & The Pips.   In 1972 this was re-released on one of the earliest US 12' singles.      This side ends with another hit : 'Long As I Can See The Light'.     You can listen to this album over and over and never get tired of it.

This album is SO GOOD, that it's hard to find a near mint original copy.     And to find a near mint original PROMO copy is a hundred times harder than that.
