Description

For sale is CECIL PAYNE "Performing Charlie Parker Music," on Charlie Parker Records PLP-801, MONO, DG, 1961. With Clark Terry, Duke Jordan, Ron Carter and Charles Persip.
SOUND: MINT It has been machine-cleaned and I listened to both sides completely. Nothing but beautiful, clean, crisp sound! Fantastic playback!
VINYL: NM The vinyl was smudged by many fingerprints. After 2 cleanings on my Nitty-Gritty machine, these are significantly improved, but the smudges are still visible. I don't count this as a flaw, and I've no doubt that more cleaning can clear these up 100%. But I leave that to the buyer... as for the vinyl, it is in beautiful, clean condition, both sides, with the exception of 2 scuffs on side B. These appear completely superficial, cannot be felt, and have no effect during playback. The deep-grooved, black/silver "Parker" labels are in very nice condition, with a few faint spindle marks.
JACKET: NM The edges and spine are solid and in beautiful condition. The corners are nice, with a faint touch of wear. Both the front and back covers are exceptionally clean and bright, with minimal wear or aging. The only flaw is a soft bent across the lower front right corner, not too bad (see pics.)
The photos are of the exact record up for bids. Look before you bid, ask if you want any additional info or pics.
You won't easily find this great record in better all-over shape: jacket, vinyl, playback are all first-rate! Buy-it-now for $24.
Every record I auction has been cleaned on a Nitty Gritty vacuum/cleaner. I played every record to determine if there are static, tics, pops, hisses, what have you. I endeavor to thoroughly report any extraneous audio "noise" or problems of any significance. Other than that, I will report on the general condition of each record, both vinyl and jacket, according to Goldmine standards, to the best of my ability.
Every record is put into a new, clean sleeve insert. In the case of an interesting original sleeve insert, I'll include that in the sale.
If you're into this stuff, you might want to save me to your seller's list and check back periodically. I'll be putting a lot of vintage jazz records up for auction. I'm not a collector, nor an audiophile, but I think they are desirable if you're into this kind of material.  Click "see other items" and thanks for looking!
