Lovely condition copy of this 1957 US 1st press jazz rarity with the impressive sound quality being a true highlight
Excellent (EX) condition vinyl - weighty and completely flat, and in normal daylight each side of the vinyl comes across as barely marked. With close inspection under a bright light a few non-obvious and non-feelable very wispy hairlines and extremely faint scuff lines can be identified : on each side there is a single 3-4cm scuff line which is slightly more noticeable though still not obvious. Indeed, nothing of any real significance and certainly nothing to spoil a great listen, and it is the wonderful audio quality that persuades me to grade the condition of the vinyl as excellent. Note the all-important 1st press "RVG" stamp in each of the dead wax run-off's. Excellent (EX) deep groove condition labels : again, very close inspection under a bright light reveals just a few small and very faint spindle trails adjacent to the centre hole on each label, but no other blemishes at all. Clearly this is a record that has been sparingly played and hard to believe that it is almost 70 years old! A solid very good (VG) condition US 1st press thick cardboard outer sleeve with firm edges, nice right angled corners but with rubbing/wear on each, firm opening sides with minimal fraying, and no unwanted writing.There is a 9cm split on the bottom edge towards the right corner, a further 1cm split on each adjacent edge of the bottom left corner, some fraying and occasional nicks on the spine which does impinge upon the spine text, a thin strip of sellotape adhered to the top edge (don't think it was placed there as part of the original manufacturing process), some mild age discolouration adjacent to the edges on the reverse side, and just the very occasional and very light handling/storage/age/general wear and tear surface mark. Still functional, and still very presentable but do take a good look at my photos where I have tried to show a detailed and honest appraisal of the condition of this iconic sleeve - again, hard to believe that this copy is almost 70 years of age! Truly excellent (EX) mono audio quality with no skips, jumps, repeats, sticks, distortion or interference, and any background crackle is at an absolute minimum - negligible in fact. There is the very occasional light and very background click, each of which is non-intrusive and close inspection of the vinyl under a bright light reveals no obvious cause for any clicking anywhere - I suspect that there are a few tiny specks of dust caught in the grooves through decades of storage for which a proper clean would remedy. Overall, and amazingly for this 69 year old copy, crystal clear sound quality with great tone, and each and every track remaining a brilliant listen...exactly as you would expect from this legion of jazz legends : Cecil Payne (baritone sax), Duke Jordan (piano), Tommy Potter (bass), Arthur Taylor (drums), and on side 2 the inimitable Kenny Dorham (trumpet). Comes with new poly-lined inner sleeve. Such a great LP and 1st pressings such as this are so rare and so highly sought after. The sound quality on this copy really is a treat - terrific jazz!

Note that I always insert the vinyl into a new plain white poly-lined inner sleeve in order to protect the original during postage, and separate this from the outer sleeve to prevent seam splits. I use thick cardboard stiffeners and take great care in my packaging to ensure as far as possible that these precious records reach their destination in exactly the same condition as when they leave me.
