Description
CECIL TAYLOR Unit structures VINYL LP (Japan) Blue Note GSK8147/BST 84237 (1980 -Quality Japanese pressing of 1966 album. Pianist Cecil Taylor suffered as much criticism as alto-saxist Ornette Coleman regarding his unorthodox approach to jazz. He won Down Beat’s New Star award in 1962 but still had difficulty getting regular gigs. The two albums he cut for Blue Note in 1966, including this one are considered to have been way ahead of their time. Musicians accompanying Taylor on this one were Eddie Gale Stevens, Jimmy Lyons, Ken McIntyre, Henry Grimes, Alan Silva and Andrew Cyrille. This copy is super clean – near mint. [original write-up]
Record Grade: EX+ to M-
(Looks to be un-played with no spindle marks I could see. It's very clean under strong light. )
Cover Grade: EX (to EX+)
(Great cover - no bends, no splits, no shelf wear, no dings. Japanese language insert is also clean. Obi is all good except for one part where it's coming unstuck, as seen in pics. Perhaps a perceivable hint of age/humidity browning - maybe. Nice cover over-all. The obi coming unstuck thing, the only issue.)
Nice copy.
FREE SHIPPING TO AUSTRALIA (registered post on $20+ items)
INTERNATIONAL BUYERS NOTE: Import taxes are the responsibility of the buyer. Please be aware of these costs before bidding. (International Postage terms: see below) Posted with vinyl outside of sleeve to prevent sleeve splits in transit. Packed in solid cardboard. Japanese pressings are usually heavier packages.
IMPORTANT: All records graded carefully under strong light.
I have a long standing good reputation for grading and I use
the UK grading system which includes EX grades. I am used to
strict Japanese grading standards. If a disc is graded EX you
will not receive something that should be VG+. On the off chance
that happens, please contact me and I will sort it out.
International Postage:
These discs are generally aimed at Australian buyers,
but I have a lot of experience posting internationally.
International postage will be an $ AU 30 flat rate .
(I'll cover the difference, including tracking etc., and if actual postage
does happen to come in lower I'll refund the difference back.)
If you would like to combine international postage on multiple items
please wait for an invoice.
NOTE: I am going to be selling my own collection of clean
Japanese pressings with obi's and other discs this year.
I have issues with storage because my wife and I have been
relocating between Australia and Korea.
Vinyl is visually graded only. My sound system is still in storage in
another city.
Grading note: Very clean near mint records may sometimes have tiny
specks of dust or very small ultra thin fabric strands (which can sometimes
be mistaken for marks) on the vinyl, which come from the inside of
inner sleeves. Both of these will likely be removed by the stylus on first play.
If I can, I send items out in anti-static inner sleeves to try to minimize
this.
