Description
Legendary rockabilly and Sun artist, CHARLIE FEATHERS on Sam Phillip's "other" label, FLIP 503. This was recorded February, 1955. The record is in strong VG+ condition and plays nice. The vinyl has a little stain on a small area on both sides, but doesn't have hardly any effect on the sound. This is a hard to find 78, so I want to mention any details regardless how small they might be. The record still retains a lot of it's gloss.
The songs are "PEEPIN' EYES" and "I'VE BEEN DECEIVED."
After rehearsing with Quinton Claunch and Bill Cantrell at a small home studio, the first single to be released of Charlie was "I've Been Deceived" and "Peepin' Eyes" on Flip 503. By May 1955, the single had made a brief entry in the Memphis country charts with sales of close to 3000 copies. "I've Been Deceived" is now considered a classic of the era with a pure hillbilly vocal, with emotion dripping from every word coupled with lyrics which compare to the best country songs of any era. "Peepin' Eyes" by contrast, was a more up-tempo honky tonker.
