Description
This is a truly beautiful copy of the rare Taiwan pressing of Mingus' Tonight at Noon LP, released on Atlantic 1416 in 1964, and slightly later pressed in Taiwan for the Chinese market. Discogs says it was issued in 1969 but this label is common for many somewhat earlier issues. Hard to tell. Somewhere between 1964 and 1969 anyway. Pressed as number CSJ-829. These Taiwanese pressed "western" records were made for the restricted Chinese market at the time and were sold there under the counter and at street markets. They were only made in small quantities and are quite rare. The pressings, to be quite honest, are not great, so even perfect copies won't sound perfect, but some are quite nice. This one is quite nice. It is in unusually great condition for one of these albums. The disc is very nearly perfectly mint and it plays beautifully. The flimsy paper cover is also quite well preserved, with barely any wear. This is really a top copy of this rare pressing. Hard to beat... hard to find at all!
